Shusha hosts session on media diplomacy, media literacy in rebuilding trust

Within the framework of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, a panel session was held on media diplomacy and media literacy in rebuilding trust.

According to Report's correspondent in Shusha, the first speaker at the panel was Zhang Ling, Deputy Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

She noted that global challenges are increasing day by day: "Media plays an important role against this backdrop. It serves as a vital link between society and the state. This is not just about communication tools – it is about a new concept of diplomacy. Media can also play a role in negotiations within this diplomatic gap."

The CICA official added that as the number of member states grows, opinions may not always align: "We prioritize dialogue. We strive to speak on larger and more multilateral platforms. Where there is trust, cooperation expands."

Zaid Al-Nawaiseh, Secretary-General of Jordan's Ministry of Communications, emphasized that while access to information used to be difficult, today distinguishing accurate information has become more complicated:

"Perhaps the main question now is whether the information itself is true. In such circumstances, trust becomes more important. Trust arises from reliability, transparency, and when the audience is media literate. Trust must exist between the producer and the receiver of information."
