The International Media Forum "Islamic Civilization: A New Perspective – New Discoveries" is being viewed not as a one-off event, but as the beginning of long-term professional dialogue and cooperation, Uzbek presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov said, Report's correspondent informs from Tashkent.
Speaking at the forum, held in Tashkent, Asadov said the discussions and new initiatives launched during the event could help present Uzbekistan's rich civilizational heritage to the global information space.
"We view this forum not as a one-time event, but as the beginning of long-term professional dialogue and cooperation," he said.
According to Asadov, the forum, which is being held in Tashkent and Samarkand, has brought together around 300 media representatives, scholars, cultural figures and digital-sector specialists from nearly 50 countries.
Euronews, CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera are among the event's main media partners.
Asadov noted that the forum is taking place ahead of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence and is intended to present the country's rich civilizational heritage to the international community from a new perspective.
He emphasized the significance of holding the event at the Center of Islamic Civilization, established on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to Asadov, Islamic civilization is above all a civilization of science, enlightenment, thought and tolerance, while the legacy of Uzbekistan's great scholars and thinkers represents a living intellectual heritage.
He stressed the need to bring this heritage to global audiences through modern digital formats and media solutions that are accessible to younger generations.
