Euronews plans new documentary, digital projects focused on Azerbaijan

Euronews plans to launch new documentary, television and digital projects dedicated to Azerbaijan, Euronews General and Editorial Director Claus Strunz said.

Speaking to a Report correspondent in Tashkent, Strunz said the broadcaster is constantly looking for opportunities to produce content from Azerbaijan.

"We are always looking for opportunities to create documentaries, interesting television materials and digital content from Azerbaijan," he said.

According to Strunz, Azerbaijan is of particular interest to international audiences because of its unique geographical location, rich history and the many compelling stories the country has to offer.

He noted that the opening of a Euronews office in Baku has enabled the broadcaster to expand its coverage of events in Azerbaijan and across the South Caucasus for European audiences.

"One of the goals of our presence in Azerbaijan is precisely to bring information and coverage of events in the region and the wider Caucasus to European audiences," Strunz said.

He stressed that developments in the South Caucasus are of significant importance to Europe.

"Part of Europe's future will be determined precisely in this region. Therefore, it is the duty and responsibility of journalists to be among the first to cover the events, developments and important issues taking place here," the Euronews chief added.

Strunz also pointed to the European Union's growing interest in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus.
