The Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev has called Aghdam, an Azerbaijani city liberated last fall from Armenian occupation, a clear example of urbicide.
"Urbicide is a term that literally translates as 'violence against the city'. The liberated city of Aghdam which was entirely ruined and looted as a result of Armenia's 30 years long vandalism is a clear illustration of urbicide. Aghdam is referred to as the 'Hiroshima of the Caucasus'," he tweeted after his visit to the city.
Hajiyev visited the ruined city on April 11 along with a delegation of the Turkic Council.
