"There are still serious differences between us. In general, these are the same proposals. For 15 years we see the same ideas, the same peace plan," Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told reporters following a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan held on June 20 in Washington.
Report informs citing the Voice of America that Mammadyarov noted that "intensive and deep" negotiations were held during the meeting and the co-chairs presented additional documents for more meaningful talks. He noted that intensifying military situation on the contact line was unpleasant, and expressed confidence that the talks would continue: "There were some disagreements in the details, but the main content of the discussions lies in details. We understand that we should show more political will. Even the situation on the contact line should not prevent the declaration or progress towards a peace treaty."
Mammadyarov said that a number of exchanges have been carried out to build trust between the parties.
He talked about the importance of taking some initial steps towards solving the problem.
"One of the most important elements is the return of servicemen to quarters. The return of the soldiers to the quarters will create a better ground for peace. As we talk about the normalization of the situation, we should prepare the people for peace, as we have discussed in Paris and Moscow meetings," the Foreign Minister said.
