Speaking to the Young Journalists Society News Agency about the tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor on Foreign Affairs to Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, said:
"We respect the territorial integrity of countries under international law. As a member of the UN, we are determined on this issue. One country's land is occupied by another. Armenia has invaded seven regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions. All this requires Armenia to leave the occupied territories and withdraw to its internationally recognized borders."
