Garajayeva: Azerbaijan guided by SDGs in restoration of Karabakh, Eastern Zangazur

Azerbaijan is aligning all construction and restoration projects in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Nargiz Garajayeva, Senior Advisor to the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan Districts, said at an event during WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

She stated that the representative's primary goal is to create economically sustainable and stable communities capable of ensuring a secure and long-term future for future generations.

She also noted that, in accordance with SDG criteria, a solid foundation is being created in the region for the development and implementation of sustainable practice standards.

"After liberating its territories from occupation, Azerbaijan developed comprehensive strategies, including national socioeconomic development priorities until 2030 and the state program Great Return, aimed at the revival of Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur. As part of these initiatives, the Azerbaijani government is not simply restoring existing infrastructure but is essentially creating a new, modern urban system from scratch for the sustainable resettlement of former internally displaced persons," she said.
