Record-low water levels in the Danube River in Budapest have exposed World War II artefacts, including the remains of two soldiers, a German military motorcycle, ammunition and other historical items.
According to Euronews, cited by Report, the German War Graves Commission said the exhumation was carried out by German and Hungarian specialists. Identification tags were found alongside the soldiers' remains, which are expected to be reburied at the Budaörs military cemetery near Budapest after forensic examinations are completed.
The discoveries also included several German Tellermine 35 anti-tank mines and what is believed to be a DKW NZ 350-1 military motorcycle, a model regarded as one of the German army's most reliable during World War II. Other recovered items included a military decoration and a fuel canister.
