UN: Urbanization worsening housing crisis in Central and West Asia

Urbanization in Central and West Asia has accelerated significantly over the past decade, placing serious pressure on urban infrastructure and housing systems, Director of the Global Solutions Division at UN-Habitat Raf Tuts said during an event held as part of WUF13 in Baku.

According to Report, Raf Tuts stated that this trend is worsening the shortage of affordable and adequate housing, increasing living costs, and intensifying pressure on land and infrastructure.

"For many families, housing expenses already account for the largest share of household budgets, which has serious implications for social inclusion, public health, gender equality, and economic resilience," Tuts said.
