Climate security is regarded as an important challenge at the intersection of urban planning and peace, Antonio Sampaio, UN Climate Security Mechanism Advisor, said during an event held within the framework of World Urban Forum 13 in Baku.
Report quotes him as saying the field of climate security cannot remain detached from such complex challenges.
"I see this as both a significant difficulty and a challenge. People are already trying to apply, or apply more effectively, existing knowledge in areas such as ecology, climate, and housing provision. However, it is sometimes difficult to jointly address the intersection points of three different issues - urban planning, climate, and peace and security," he said.
