UN-Habitat: Baku Call to Action should reflect full scope of goals set

The 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), taking place in Baku, offers a unique opportunity to advance housing reforms and practices, reads a statement by Anaclaudia Rossbach, executive director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Report informs.

A statement on her behalf was delivered by Rafael Tuts, director of UN-Habitat's Global Solutions Division, at a meeting on the sidelines of WUF13.

According to Rossbach, the intersessional process is the first and only intergovernmental platform established under a UN mandate and specifically dedicated to the development of normative guidelines in the housing sector.

"The recommendations developed here will be presented at the third session of the UN-Habitat Assembly in 2029 and will shape reforms and practices well before then. Discussions held at the forum on informal settlements, climate resilience, and financing should directly influence the work of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Working Group on Adequate Housing for All. At the same time, the Baku Call to Action document must reflect the full scope of our goals," the statement reads.
