UN: Climate migration takes urban security to new stage

Climate migration is taking urban security to a new stage.

Report informs that António Sampaio, adviser to the UN Climate Security Mechanism, said this at an event held as part of WUF13 in Baku.

According to him, climate security is important in the context of peacebuilding, conflict prevention and the international peace and security environment.

"Rural-to-urban migration in the area of climate security is already one of the widely recognized and particularly emphasized key trends. In this regard, there is clearly an urgent need to pay greater attention to the urban context," he said.
