Turkish official: Strategic value of Middle Corridor to be measured by economic impact

The strategic importance of the Middle Corridor will be measured not by the volume of cargo passing through the territories of participating countries, but by the economic value it creates, according to Ramazan Erdag, Head of the Center for Strategic Studies at Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Report informs.

Speaking at the 2nd International Conference of Leading National Analytical Centers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Baku, Erdag highlighted that the Middle Corridor is not and should not be merely an alternative transit route.

"It must become a driver of integration, connecting markets, standards, production networks, energy systems, digital infrastructure, and ultimately the societies of OTS countries," he noted.

"In an era of geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain disruptions, and growing need for diversification, the demand for stable, secure, and self‑sufficient connectivity between Asia and Europe is clearer than ever," the official added.

He further stated that successful corridors do not simply accelerate the movement of containers; "they reorganize economic geography."
