Urban planning and housing policy can be united under a "single umbrella", First Deputy Head of the Spatial and Urban Development Agency of Georgia, Tinatin Kolbaia, said at an event held within the framework of WUF13 in Baku.
Report quotes her as saying Georgia is already ready for such an approach: "Even now, certain steps are being taken. If urban or spatial plans are being developed, they are accompanied by priority investment programs. These plans usually start with basic infrastructure, which directly affects housing quality and the standard of living."
She noted that after approval by local authorities and municipal councils, such investment plans begin to be implemented immediately.
