Tamara Paseyro speaks at WUF13 about affordable housing support mechanisms in Uruguay

Housing construction financing should rely not only on external resources but also on domestic sources and public-private partnership mechanisms, Uruguay's Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Tamara Paseyro, said at an event during WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

According to Paseyro, the state should not directly intervene in the housing market, but can guide private sector policy toward the development of social housing.

She noted that the model Uruguay proposes for its citizens is based on three components: tax incentives to stimulate construction, subsidies to support families, and the establishment of housing price caps.

"This creates a partnership with the private sector that is beneficial to both parties," the minister emphasized.
