Tamara Paseyro: Housing reforms in Latin America impossible without political will

In Latin America and the Caribbean, it is important to create housing finance tools aimed at specific results.

Report informs that Tamara Paseyro Marin, Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning of Uruguay, said this at an event held as part of WUF13 in Baku.

According to her, the international environment is making construction more expensive, putting pressure on state budgets and reducing families" ability to save.

The minister also noted the importance of intergovernmental governance and community participation in shaping housing policy.

"We need information systems and proper land management. Communities must participate in the development of state housing policy and have a voice. And finally, none of this is possible without the political will of governments," she said.
