As a key component of the Digital Silk Way project, which aims to establish a new digital corridor between Europe and Asia, the submarine cable intended for the construction of the Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Line (FOCL) was transported from the Kurik port in Kazakhstan to the Baku port by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), a company under AZCON Holding, using its ferry vessel, Azerbaijan.
According to Report, citing ASCO, the oversized and heavy cargo was delivered to the Kurik port by a convoy of three specialized transport vehicles, loaded onto ASCO's ferry vessel, and safely transported across the Caspian Sea to Baku. Upon arrival at the port, the cargo was successfully unloaded.
Within the framework of the project, ASCO acts not only as a carrier but also as a partner in maritime operations. Previously, ASCO's vessel Turkan participated in the marine route survey works for the Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Line project, conducting studies of coastal areas and the seabed.
