Special rep: Settlement in Karabakh is boosted by economic development, preferential incentives

Settlement in Azerbaijan's liberated territories is supported by economic development and preferential incentives, Vahid Hajiyev, the President's Special Representative in Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts, said at the "Smart and Sustainable City Projects in Azerbaijan" event organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, Report informs.

"Resettlement, of course, would not have been possible without economic development, as well as ensuring employment opportunities. A strong economic foundation is one of the key factors for sustainable settlement. To support economic activity in the liberated territories, Azerbaijan has introduced special economic incentives, including tax and customs exemptions, preferential financial mechanisms, and simplified conditions for investors and entrepreneurs," he noted.

According to the Special Representative, green energy projects are expanding from the Araz Valley Economic Zone Industrial Park: "19 residents and companies, as well as 3 non-resident business entities, are already carrying out their activities in the Zone located in close proximity to the Araz River. We are utilizing all possible green solutions in those territories. In Zangilan alone, we have four hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 50 megawatts. The roof of each house and building is equipped with solar panels. Solar energy and solar potential in this region are quite high, significantly more compared to other places in Azerbaijan."
