The prospect of establishing joint expert platforms with the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan is quite real, Shiomi Hideyuki, Advisor to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, told Report on the sidelines of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
"As you know, Japan is renowned for its strict seismic safety standards. This opens up the possibility of establishing joint expert platforms and exchanging knowledge with the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan to apply advanced Japanese earthquake-resistant construction technologies.
We will certainly begin working on this area if the Azerbaijani government initiates the initiative," he emphasized.
The advisor also pointed out that Japan had previously built an urban planning system and gradually developed its infrastructure, preparing for rapid population growth. "I am confident that these approaches will most likely be beneficial for the long-term development and improvement of your cities. We look forward to mutually beneficial cooperation," added Hideyuki.
