Shahin Baghirov: Aghband border crossing point to open shortly

The Aghband border crossing point in Azerbaijan's East Zangazur region is expected to become operational in the near future, Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan and Colonel General of the Customs Service, said in an interview with Report News Agency and İctimai TV.

According to Baghirov, efforts are ongoing to expand the country's infrastructure capacity as part of Azerbaijan's broader plan to increase its transit potential.

"Several border crossing points have already been modernized. The Khanoba state border checkpoint has begun operating in a format that meets modern standards. The Southern Astara border crossing point also complies with contemporary requirements, and once the second phase of its expansion is completed, even greater capacity will be created. Efforts to put the Aghband checkpoint into operation continue, and we expect to complete this process in the near future," he noted.
