Participants have come together at WUF13 to make the world a safer and more prosperous place, Sebastien Vauzelle, Head of the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat, said at the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments held within the framework of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
He noted that in this regard, local and regional governments have a very important role:
"In order to make the world a better and more desirable place, everyone's rights must be respected. This, in turn, means enormous responsibility for the said governments at both city and regional levels."
Vauzelle emphasized the importance of issuing a call to action to the international community from Baku through the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum:
"It is not just about today; this initiative must be turned into a long-term and sustainable process. Because here we are talking about sustainable dialogue, which is a global matter. Naturally, sustainability is a prerequisite for achieving our goals. In short, we expect today's forum and the subsequent processes to turn the world into a better place."
