The New Urban Agenda must be fully integrated into national development strategies, climate action policies, and economic planning programs by 2036, Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy National Coordinator of WUF13 and Deputy Chief of Staff of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, stated during the event under the theme Global Housing Crisis: What's the Plan? held within the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
Rzayeva mentioned that climate resilience and inclusive urbanization are key national priorities for Azerbaijan.
"This is the factor shaping our active global engagement. To ensure cities are human-centered, all principles emphasized here are incorporated into our planning processes. For the next decade, the New Urban Agenda must be fully integrated into national development strategies, climate action policies, and economic planning programs. Stronger institutional cooperation is essential. Governments, municipalities, international financial institutions, the private sector, and communities must work together through long-term partnerships. Financing systems must be sustainable, and measurable outcomes should guide our actions. Monitoring is one of the most critical aspects - with clear targets and monitoring systems in place," she said.
