The opening of new restaurants in Icherisheher is not supported.
Report informs that Rufat Mahmud, head of the Administration of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher," said this at an event held as part of WUF13 in Baku.
According to him, the main focus is currently on improving the quality of service at existing establishments.
"We believe there are already enough large restaurants, so we do not support the opening of new establishments. The fact that some restaurants are focused exclusively on tourists hinders their sustainable operation. The Reserve Administration regularly holds meetings with representatives of restaurants and hotels and tries to help them resolve emerging problems," Mahmud said.
He noted that Icherisheher is divided into tourist and residential zones.
"The southern part of Icherisheher is mainly tourist-oriented. Most restaurants and museums are concentrated there, while the number of permanent residents is small. The residential area is mainly located around the Palace of the Shirvanshahs. This approach helps maintain a balance between tourist flows and comfortable living conditions for local residents," the head of the administration added.
