Rossbach: Housing crisis depriving young people of their future

Problems with access to housing are limiting young people's opportunities in education, employment, and building their future, Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the UN-Habitat, said during WUF13 in Baku, according to Report.

"Young people understand that they have no opportunity either to rent or to buy housing. As a result, they cannot develop their businesses or fully pursue their education. This situation demonstrates how important it is to understand their needs and recognize the urgency of the issue," she said.

Rossbach noted that UN-Habitat is implementing a number of initiatives in this area, including guidelines on women's issues, the Youth 2030 program, and the Child-Friendly Cities Initiative.

At the same time, she added that these efforts are not sufficient and emphasized the importance of deeper cooperation within the framework of WUF13.
