Comprehensive restoration projects have already covered eight cities and more than 100 settlements in Azerbaijan's liberated territories.
Report informs that Ramil Jahangirov, a representative of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, said this at an event held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to him, the geographical scale of the territories where large-scale restoration work is currently underway is comparable to the area of a country such as Lebanon.
"We have developed a General Plan that serves as a strategic roadmap for the development of these territories and sets a unified framework for all further processes. The next level of planning was master plans for cities and villages. At present, they have been approved and are being implemented for eight cities and more than 100 villages," the State Committee representative said.
He emphasized that the introduction of such a design system makes it possible to carry out restoration work in different parts of the region in parallel and without losing momentum.
According to him, six special representative offices on the ground play a key role in coordinating the process. "This is not traditional local governance. This is governance under restoration conditions, when construction and the return of people are taking place every day," he said.
