Ports of Caspian and Black Sea expand cooperation

A meeting was held as part of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia( CICA) Port Authorities Conference, organized by the Baku International Sea Port under Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), with the participation of senior representatives of the ports of Aktau, Kuryk, Turkmenbashi, Poti and Batumi.
According to Report, citing ADY, the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation to transform the Caspian and Black Sea basins into a more efficient, reliable and competitive transport and logistics space.
During the discussions, the growing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor, stronger coordination among regional ports, faster and more predictable organization of cargo flows, as well as opportunities for joint cooperation were considered.
It was noted that, according to preliminary figures for the first eight months of 2026, cargo turnover between the Port of Baku and Turkmenistan"s ports increased by 34.6% compared with the same period last year, while cargo turnover with Kazakhstani ports rose by 6%.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on jointly addressing challenges faced by ports and developing regional cooperation on a more institutionalized and sustainable basis.
