As the Middle Corridor develops, there is a growing need for additional ferries to handle cargo transportation, Deputy Director General of the Port of Kuryk Bakytkerey Alibekov told journalists, according to Report.
He said the Port of Kuryk is set to be expanded.
"The Sarzha multifunctional universal terminal is already operational at the port. The terminal has several berths," he said.
Alibekov noted that cargo volumes along the Middle Corridor are growing every year.
"Therefore, there is a need for additional ferries. The Port of Kuryk has already acquired three ferries. Overall, to increase the route's capacity, we plan to build an additional berth for Ro-Ro vessels," Alibekov said.
