OTS simplifies customs and transit procedures on Middle Corridor

The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is working to simplify customs and transit procedures along the Middle Corridor, aiming to make it more business‑friendly and to develop it not only as a transport route but also as an economic hub, Balázs Hendrich, Head of the OTS Representation Office in Hungary, stated at the 2nd International Conference of Leading National Analytical Centers of the Organization in Baku, Report informs.

Hendrich noted that building infrastructure alone is not enough for the corridor's development; commercial efficiency and financing opportunities must also be considered. Hendrich emphasized: "The Middle Corridor should not simply connect points A and B. It must unite countries and market participants ready to invest and produce goods along the route."

He explained that differences in procedures, document requirements, border controls, transit duties, and other payments increase delivery times and complicate the use of the route for businesses. Therefore, OTS, together with relevant agencies of member states, is working on harmonizing and simplifying these rules, developing transport links, and building modern infrastructure.

"The introduction of digital customs procedures and intelligent transport systems should improve efficiency and reduce delays," Hendrich added.
