Orkhan Aliyev: Future of housing solutions for Ukraine is linked to devt of rental housing

The future of housing solutions for those affected by military actions in Ukraine is largely linked to the development of a modern rental model, given the scale of housing loss and the ownership structure in the country, stated by Orkhan Aliyev, project leader of Habitat for Humanity International in Ukraine, at an event at WUF13, Report informs.

According to him, a significant portion of Ukraine's population (more than 3 million households) has lost their homes, while the private ownership rate in the country exceeds 95%, making the housing issue not only a social but also a systemic one.

"We are convinced that long-term rental will be the optimal solution for many affected people. We are talking about more than 3 million destroyed households," the speaker emphasized.

Orkhan Aliyev noted that at this stage, the key task is not only the construction of housing but also the establishment of sustainable management and maintenance models, as well as the development of non-profit housing stock operators.
