New economic activity zones to be created around Boyukshor Lake

The City within a City project planned around Boyukshor Lake in Baku provides for attracting major investment and creating thousands of new jobs, Ramiz Idrisoghlu, head of the public relations sector at Azerbaijan"s State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, said, as quoted by Report.

According to him, the project envisions the construction of healthcare, retail, educational, and hotel infrastructure facilities across the area.

Idrisoghlu noted that settlements such as Mardakan, Hovsan, Lokbatan, and Alat should eventually transform into independent hubs with their own jobs, modern commercial areas, educational institutions, and healthcare infrastructure.

"This means citizens will no longer have to commute to the city center every day for work. The burden on the center will be redistributed, while economic activity in the outskirts will increase," he stressed.
