Mukhtar Babayev calls for practical action on climate-resilient agriculture

Greater practical action is needed to build climate-resilient agriculture and support farmers, Mukhtar Babayev said, Report informs.

In a post on X following discussions at Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Babayev said the talks, held together with Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture, focused on water and soil management, technology, finance and stronger support for farmers.

He noted that climate change is already affecting the conditions in which farmers produce food.

Babayev said the Baku Harmoniya Climate Initiative for Farmers, launched at COP29, was designed to ensure that global climate action reaches farmers and strengthens their resilience.

He added that ahead of COP31, efforts should increasingly focus on turning climate commitments into practical measures on the ground.
