Azerbaijan is going through an important stage of technological transformation, Fariz Ismayilzada, Azerbaijani MP and Vice-Rector of ADA University, stated during a roundtable within the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
Ismayilzada noted that the country is working to reduce dependence on traditional oil and gas resources and is paying serious attention to renewable energy: "At the same time, efforts are being made to apply smart solutions and modern technologies in urban management, transport systems, and daily urban life. Demographic changes have already become one of the central topics in both state policy and academic research. Therefore, universities are focusing their research activities mainly on technology, environment, and demography. Solving these problems requires international cooperation. Azerbaijan is a relatively small country, so it cannot address these issues alone."
He stressed that cooperation with neighboring countries is particularly important regarding the Caspian Sea and regional water resources: "At the same time, it is necessary to work jointly with Middle Eastern countries and international organizations to draw global attention to these problems. In the field of technology, Azerbaijan seeks to expand cooperation with developed countries, strengthen the use of artificial intelligence, data analysis, and smart technologies. Universities aim to contribute to the country's sustainable development by benefiting from global experience through both local initiatives and international partnerships."
