In Ukraine, 2.5 million people are experiencing housing problems as a result of the military conflict with Russia, stated Olena Shuliak, chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Power Organization, Local Self-Government, Regional Development, and Urban Planning, at an event within the framework of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

"Due to Russian attacks, 13% of Ukraine's housing stock has been destroyed. 2.5 million families have had their housing damaged or completely destroyed, which amounts to more than 70 million square meters," Shuliak said.

She noted that there are currently about 5 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine, and over 6.5 million Ukrainians are living abroad.

Shuliak added that a new law on housing policy has been adopted in Ukraine. According to her, the new law creates opportunities for shaping a modern, transparent, and high-quality housing policy.
