Middle Corridor boosts China-Europe freight, says Chinese envoy

The launch of the China-Europe express route via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, has led to a significant increase in cargo volumes, China's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said at the First Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025) held in Baku, Report informs.

The diplomat emphasized that this route plays a key role in linking Asia and Europe, strengthening logistics and transportation across the region:

"All countries benefit from this, and it is a great example of cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative."

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Ambassador Mei noted that Azerbaijan has actively participated since it was first proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"Azerbaijan has been involved from the very beginning, and joint work in this direction continues to develop at a high level. Our cooperation is based on principles of joint planning, construction, and shared benefit. Through this, China is opening its doors wider to the world, while all South Caucasus and Central Asian countries are actively engaging in the initiative," the ambassador stated.

She also added that China is working with partners to strengthen regional railway connections, including the further development of the Middle Corridor and new railway networks such as China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan.
