Malaysia plans to build one million affordable housing units within ten years

Malaysia has set a target of building 1 million affordable and equitable housing units within 10 years, Nga Kor Ming, Malaysia's Minister of Housing and Local Government and current President of the Assembly of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said at a ministerial roundtable during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, according to Report.

"Through the Residensi Rakyat (PRR) and Residensi Madani programs, we are going beyond simply providing shelter. Instead, we prioritize youth, first-time homebuyers, and households with incomes below 40% (the B40 category). We strive to ensure that the right to the city is a reality for everyone, not a privilege for a select few, and we are adapting our cities to climate change by transforming the housing economy into a resilient ecosystem," the minister stated.
