Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan mull creation of cargo terminal in Alat port

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have discussed the creation of an intermodal freight terminal at Alat Port, designed to strengthen the transport and logistics infrastructure of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Report informs, citing Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ).

The project's implementation issues were discussed during a working visit to Baku by a delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Board Yerlan Koishibayev.

During the visit, the delegation toured Alat Port and inspected the site designated for the proposed intermodal freight terminal.

Its creation will expand transport infrastructure capabilities and increase cargo volumes along the TITR, strengthening interaction among the logistics hubs of China, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, the delegation met with Deputy Head of the Azerbaijan Transport and Communication Holding (AZCON) Vugar Mirzazada.

The sides discussed the further development of cooperation, the creation of a unified cargo flow management system, synchronous development of logistics infrastructure, expansion of port capacities, and fleet development.

A meeting was also held with Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Rovshan Rustamov.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of strategic partnership in railway transport, as well as joint measures to attract additional cargo flows to the TITR.
