Cities become more resilient and human-centered when youth and civil society are provided with meaningful opportunities to participate in their development, Ramil Isgandarli, chairman of the Board of the Forum of National Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) of Azerbaijan, said at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
He noted that the NGO Forum places particular emphasis on developing international cooperation among civil society organizations, including initiatives implemented within the Global South.
"Our event focuses on the comparative experiences of Liberia, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan. Despite the differences in the historical, political, and socioeconomic realities of these countries, the conclusion is clear: when opportunities are created for youth and civil society organizations, cities become more resilient to crises and transform into spaces that are more human-centered," he said.
