Institutionalization of urban climate meetings discussed at WUF13

Urbanization and climate meetings need to be held more frequently.

Report informs that Antonio da Costa e Silva, head of the international relations department at Brazil"s Ministry of Cities, said this at a high-level meeting of the Baku Sustainability Coalition for Urban Climate Action and Sustainable Urbanization, held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

"This meeting should be held frequently. In addition, the ministerial meeting on urbanization and climate change should be institutionalized. This does not mean creating a new platform - it is about ensuring that every COP presidency and every host party is prepared and has the capacity to organize our ministerial meetings on urbanization and climate.

"We are already preparing for six ministerial meetings and expect this process to move further forward in the future," he stressed.
