The introduction of innovative technologies and stronger support for inventors remain the main path toward solving the global housing crisis, President of the Eurasian Patent Office Grigory Ivliev said during a session held as part of WUF13.
According to Report, Grigory Ivliev emphasized that the patent system plays an important role in promoting technological innovation in urban development and housing.
He identified several key areas where emerging technologies are transforming the sector, including 3D printing in construction, modular housing systems, digital planning, and green building solutions.
"Patents protect solutions related to energy-efficient materials and resource management systems. These technologies reduce urban operating costs and lessen environmental impact," he said.
According to Ivliev, innovation helps shorten construction timelines, reduce costs, minimize environmental damage, and improve urban resilience.
"The patent system is often perceived as an obstacle, but in reality it facilitates knowledge-sharing through the disclosure of inventions and creates a foundation for a new generation of researchers," he stressed.
He reiterated that the patent system makes a significant contribution to the spread of technological innovation in urban planning and housing development.
