Reconstruction of the Sarsang Reservoir in Azerbaijan's Karabakh region will begin this year, Deputy Head of the Regional Water Management and Melioration Service Ilham Guliyev said, according to Report's correspondent in Khankandi.
Guliyev noted that Sarsang is not just a reservoir, but a major hydraulic engineering complex.
"The total capacity of the reservoir is 560 million cubic meters, and its usable capacity is 500 million cubic meters. The current water reserves in the Sarsang Reservoir have reached 320 million cubic meters, and water accumulation is ongoing. The complex includes a 50 MW hydropower plant, the Sugovushan reservoir and hydro facility, as well as the main Sugovushan and Terterchay canals," he said.
Guliyev added that in 2022–2023, major repairs were carried out on the Sugovushan hydro facility, the Terterchay main canal, and the left-bank canal: "The right-bank canal will be repaired after it is fully cleared of mines."
