Haluk Levent: A city must bring happiness and comfort to people

"The people of Azerbaijan made us feel like true brothers during the earthquake," Turkish singer Haluk Levent told journalists in Baku as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Report informs.

"I received a lot of help from my Azerbaijani brothers. I can say this with certainty. We are grateful to you and the people of Azerbaijan. During the earthquake, they gave us great support, came to help, and made us feel that we are brothers," he emphasized.

Levent noted that reconstruction work continues in the earthquake‑affected cities: "The work is ongoing. As the head of the Ahbap Association, I am doing my best. All state institutions are working there. Everyone is striving to rebuild those cities. I believe we will return to the old days very soon."

Touching on urban planning and safe city concepts, he stressed that strong infrastructure is the foundation of healthy cities: "Without solid infrastructure, it is impossible to build a safe city. Buildings constructed in accordance with laws and regulations are essential for the beauty and safety of cities. If a city does not bring happiness and comfort to people, it is a soulless and dead city. Cities must be built where people can breathe and where the environment is protected."

He also announced upcoming performances: "In September, I will hold a concert in Baku. I also want to go to Karabakh and give a concert there."
