The housing crisis is no longer a problem of different states and requires new approaches to managing urban agglomerations at the global level, stated Fiona McCluney, representative of the Global Solutions Division of UN-Habitat, at an event within the framework of WUF13, Report informs.
According to her, issues of housing affordability, informal construction, climate risks, and forced displacement today affect both developed and developing countries.
"Housing problems can no longer be solved exclusively within the framework of a single municipality," she said.
McCluney noted that residents of modern agglomerations often live in one municipality, work in another, and use shared transport and social infrastructure, which is why housing policy requires coordination.
