Climate disasters are worsening the housing crisis in Latin America.
Report informs that Fiona Littlejohn, a representative of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), said this at WUF13 in Baku.
According to her, the housing sector is not the only area affected by climate change.
"However, in many cases, housing is one of the main social sectors most severely affected by these events. Looking at the map, we can see that in a number of countries, damage from natural disasters amounts to up to 3% of gross domestic product. In countries such as Guyana and Honduras, this figure even exceeds 3%," she said.
