Fariz Aliyev: 1,000 block trains to be sent to China annually via Azerbaijan

In the medium term, it is planned to send 1,000 block trains annually to China through Azerbaijan, according to Fariz Aliyev, the head of the Transport Policy Department at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Report informs.
Aliyev made the remark at an event held within the framework of the 5th anniversary of the European Railway Express route and the reception ceremony of the 237th train (Yiwu-Baku) passing through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
According to him, relations between Azerbaijan and China are based on historical roots: "Azerbaijan's location on the strategic route of the Silk Road has created a fertile ground for further development of trade, economic, cultural, and political relations between the two countries. In the last few years, cooperation between Azerbaijan and China has risen to the level of strategic partnership, gaining important qualitative and quantitative parameters. Azerbaijan's strategic position between East and West, North and South has turned it into an important link in regional and global cooperation. Azerbaijan has become an essential component of intercontinental transport and trade connections."
Aliyev noted that this year it is planned to send 450 block trains to China through Azerbaijan: "In the medium term, this figure is expected to reach 1,000 block trains annually. We believe that thanks to mutual efforts between the two countries, this number will increase even further."
