Deputy minister calls seismic resistance of buildings priority for Kyrgyzstan

Ensuring the seismic safety of buildings and structures in Kyrgyzstan is a key priority, Talantbek Imanakun Uulu, Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing, and Communal Services of Kyrgyzstan, said at a conference as part of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that the building code system integrates rules and standards, ensuring a unified approach to design across the country.

"One of the main results of the regulatory framework modernization was the introduction of peak ground acceleration maps. These new approaches have improved the methods for calculating seismically resistant buildings and structures, and increased permissible values for multi-story buildings. Furthermore, peak acceleration parameters have been determined for 1,918 populated areas, depending on soil type and local conditions," the deputy minister said.
