Cristiana Scorza: Brazil is transforming transportation corridors into mixed-use zones

Brazil's transport and urban planning policies are developing in a unified framework, Cristiana Scorza, Director of Urban Development at Brazil's Ministry of Cities, said at an event held within the framework of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

According to her, the transport system can serve as a mechanism for joint planning, integrating land use with public transport infrastructure.

As an example, she cited the Green Line project in Curitiba.

"The goal of the project is to prevent problems caused by intense traffic flow at the junction of urban development and road networks, and to ensure safe pedestrian movement. As part of the project, zoning and land use legislation was amended, which made it possible to transform transport corridors into mixed-use zones," Scorza said.
