Construction of the Bargushadchay Reservoir has begun in Azerbaijan's Karabakh economic region, and restoration work has been completed or is ongoing at several other hydraulic structures, Mushfig Adigozalov, head of the Karabakh Region Water Treatment Facilities Operations Department, told journalists, Report informs.
According to him, construction has now begun on the Bergushadchay Reservoir in the Karabakh economic region.
Furthermore, the Zabukhchay Reservoir has been commissioned after reconstruction in the Lachin region, and restoration work has been completed at the Kandalanchay and Khachinchay reservoirs in the Fuzuli region.
"Most of the water management facilities in the territories liberated from occupation were in a state of disrepair. Currently, large-scale restoration and reconstruction work on water supply systems is ongoing in the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions," Adigozalov noted.
He also added that modern pivot and drip irrigation technologies are primarily used for irrigation in Karabakh.
"Open irrigation systems are used only in certain rural communities. This approach minimizes water loss and makes more efficient use of water resources," he emphasized.
