Castillo: Citizen involvement in building their own housing is very important

In Latin America, great importance is attached to involving citizens in the implementation of housing construction programs.

Report informs that Panama's Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Jaime Jované Castillo, said this at an event held as part of WUF13 in Baku.

According to him, participation in the process of building one's own housing can also help strengthen the family institution and cohesion among family members.

"We must instill a sense of belonging in order to restore the family structure, which has begun to weaken over the past 50 years," he said.

Castillo believes that families provided with subsidized housing do not want to make efforts toward further self-development, and this issue must be addressed.
