In 2026, Baku Port aims to transship 120,000 TEU containers, which is 13,000 TEU more compared to 2025, Eldar Salahov, Director General of Baku International Sea Port LLC, owned by Azerbaijan Railways (ADY), stated during the welcoming ceremony of Turkmenistan's first dry cargo vessel Gadamly, Report informs.
"Currently, four‑month transshipment indicators are being calculated – preliminary data shows figures are almost identical to last year, even slightly higher. For the first time in Baku Port's history, we are operating at Pier 8, while Pier 7 has already been commissioned, designed mainly for container operations. The commissioning of this Turkmen vessel and the launch of Pier 7 will allow faster and more flexible management of container operations. Additionally, the introduction of a mobile port crane manufactured in Italy, with a lifting capacity of 125 tons, adds extra strength to our transshipment capabilities," Salahov said.
