Baku port handles over 85,000 TEU of containers in eight months

The Baku International Sea Trade Port handled more than 85,000 TEU of containers in January-August 2026, up 22% compared with the same period last year, said Eldar Salahov, Director General of Baku International Sea Trade Port LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Report informs.

According to Salahov, the port also recorded significant growth in dry cargo handling, with 1.6 million tons handled in the first eight months of the year, an 80% increase year on year.

"Growth is being observed across all areas. We are continuing our work successfully to increase the port's technical capacity and cargo-handling equipment capabilities, improve operational efficiency, develop international relations and attract new cargo to the Middle Corridor," the director general added.
